NH Voices Against Violence
Reaching out. Speaking out.
Mission
The mission of Voices Against Violence is to break the cycle of violence by providing comprehensive services for all victims and survivors and by creating social change through education and action.
Free & Confidential Services:
Crisis Line (536-1659 or 1-877-221-6176) -
Speak with an advocate 24-hours a day. Whether you're fleeing a violent situation, or just have a question someone is always available to talk.
Information & Support -
Information and support regarding all aspects of domestic & sexual violence are available for victims, survivors and non-offending family members and friends. We can help you explore your options, plan for your safety, and learn how to support a loved one being abused. All of the services provided by Voices Against Violence are free of charge.
Education & Outreach -
Presentations consists of, but are not limited to, awareness raising and domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking, media awareness, healthy relationships, sexual harassment, bullying, dating violence, and conflict resolution. All presentations are age appropriate.
Emergency Shelter -
Safe, temporary shelter is available for victims and their children in fear for their safety.
Police Accompaniment -
Advocacy when making a report or participating in an interview with law enforcement, and assistance in understanding the criminal justice system.
Court Advocacy -
Receive assistance when obtaining protective orders, stalking petitions and support during court proceedings, such as custody hearings or criminal trials.
Sexual Assault Support -
Information and support about sexual assault accompaniment to hospital for exam and support through the process.
Support Groups -
Pattern Changing and Women's Spirit are support groups for women promoting safe & healthy relationships. Children's and/or Teen Support Groups are designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children who have witnessed domestic violence.
Systems Advocacy -
Advocacy when working with any systems, such as prosecutors, attorneys, juvenile probation and parole officers, or child care providers.
DCYF Advocacy -
Assistance for families who are involved with the Division of Children, Youth & Families and have experienced domestic or sexual violence. Our Specially trained Domestic Violence Specialist works to advocate for victims and survivors throughout their DCYF experience.
Client's Rights
Voices Against Violence shall provide all services regardless of an individual's gender, age, health status (including HIV-positive), physical, mental, or emotional ability; sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, socio-economic status, race, color, national origin, immigration status, or religious or political affiliation. This infers a thoughtful plan for outreach to diverse communities, i.e. outreach is a service to which all prospective clients have a right.
· All clients have the right to respectful treatment.
· All clients have the right to have their individual information/records kept confidential according to NH RSA 173-C and can ask Voices staff about our rights under NH RSA 173-C
· All clients have the right to access their own individual records.
· All clients have the right to make their own decisions, within the rules and policies of Voices Against Violence.
· All clients have the right to know and understand all the rules for Voices Against Violence by which they must abide.
· All clients have the right to offer suggestions and input concerning Voices' programs and services, to have their input heard and receive feedback on it.
· All clients have the right to have complaints concerning program and services heard. The first step is to make a complaint to the Voices staff. and/or Voices Board of Directors. If no resolution is reached, the client may complain through the Coalition's Grievance Procedure.
